Last year a contractor took a job for building a retaining wall in my backyard, dug two huge pits and never came back. As the pits were there all winter and they did nothing to secure we had huge landslide causing damage to my and my neighbours' properties. Upon calling that company multiple times and not getting any help from them we decided to termiate the contract with them and hire Hadasa to fix the damage and finish the walls. Hadasa came to our rescue. They fixed all the problems and compleated the wall. Very good people, they know there stuff and go above and beyond to help their clients. Thanks Daniel and team. I will defenitly hire them in the future if I need them.

QUESTIONS WE’RE OFTEN ASKED

Retaining walls provide structural support to prevent soil erosion, mange drainage, and create usable space on sloped properties. Inclement weather, improper compaction, and steep slopes are all reasons why someone might need to install a retaining wall. Soil erosion may cause neighboring structures to collapse and requires urgent remediation. Other reason why someone might want to install a retaining wall is for aesthetic purposes. A long, heavily sloped backyard can prove to be unusable for leisurely activities and may require a “stepped” design to create useable plateaus.

Common materials include concrete blocks, natural stone, poured concrete, and brick. Retaining walls that are taller than 3ft, require and engineered design. A discussion between the engineer and owner will dictate what material is used.

Permits may be required for walls above a certain height (typically 3-4 feet) or if the wall impacts drainage or neighboring properties. We always recommend checking with your local permit issuing municipality to confirm whether or not you need one.

The depth depends on wall height and soil conditions.

Drainage is managed with gravel backfill, perforated drain pipes, and weep holes to prevent water buildup and pressure behind the wall.
