If you're looking for a reliable and skilled contractor in Toronto area , I highly recommend Hadasa Contracting. They truly deliver exceptional work and outstanding customer service.
Last year a contractor took a job for building a retaining wall in my backyard, dug two huge pits and never came back. As the pits were there all winter and they did nothing to secure we had huge landslide causing damage to my and my neighbours' properties. Upon calling that company multiple times and not getting any help from them we decided to termiate the contract with them and hire Hadasa to fix the damage and finish the walls. Hadasa came to our rescue. They fixed all the problems and compleated the wall. Very good people, they know there stuff and go above and beyond to help their clients. Thanks Daniel and team. I will defenitly hire them in the future if I need them.

When my first contractor bailed on the project leaving me with a very short timeframe to get the job finished, Hadasa C & E stepped right up and got it done. In spite of weather issues, they completed my project in time, paying attention to the small details and providing me with a top quality concrete pad. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again for any additional work I need done.

ICF FOUNDATIONS

An Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) foundation is a modern construction system that uses strong, durable concrete reinforced with an insulating foam material. The foam forms are stacked to create the shape of the foundation and then filled with concrete, creating a solid, energy-efficient base for your home. The insulation helps regulate temperature inside the house, reducing heating and cooling costs while providing a high level of soundproofing.

ICF foundations are highly resistant to moisture, mold, and extreme weather conditions, making them an excellent long-term investment. They also offer superior strength and durability, providing a stable and low-maintenance foundation that will last for many years.

This method is becoming more and more popular amongst homeowners and builders.

WATERPROOFING

For ICF foundations, a waterproofing membrane (blue-skin) is applied to the exterior of the concrete to create a barrier that prevents moisture from seeping in. Additionally, a drainage system like dimple board, perforated pipes and gravel, are often added around the foundation to direct water away. This combination ensures long-term protection against water damage and is required by most building codes.

QUESTIONS WE’RE OFTEN ASKED

ICF stands for Insulated Concrete Forms. It’s a modern building system where hollow foam blocks are stacked to form the shape of your foundation, then filled with reinforced concrete. The foam stays in place, providing continuous insulation on both sides of the wall. The result is a strong, energy-efficient, and durable foundation that performs much better than traditional methods.

ICF foundations offer significant advantages over traditional foundations. They’re stronger, better insulated, and more resistant to moisture, temperature swings, and even natural disasters. Traditional poured concrete or block walls often need additional insulation and moisture protection—ICF gives you all of that in one step. Plus, the construction process is often faster and cleaner with ICF.

Upfront, ICF can cost a bit more than traditional poured or block foundations—typically due to the materials and specialized labor involved. However, it’s important to look at the whole picture. With ICF, you’re getting structure, insulation, and energy efficiency all in one step, which reduces the need for additional materials and labor down the line.

Most of our clients see the difference come back quickly through lower energy bills, reduced maintenance, and increased comfort. Plus, with ICF’s durability and resistance to mold, moisture, and pests, you’re saving on future repairs too. In many cases, ICF ends up being the more cost-effective choice over the life of the building.

While ICF is excellent for basements, it can absolutely be used for full homes, garages, and even large-scale commercial buildings. Many clients start with an ICF foundation and then decide to continue the system above-grade for better energy efficiency, noise control, and structural performance throughout the whole building.

ICF technology has been around since the 1960s and has been steadily evolving since then. It’s well-tested, proven, and used across North America and Europe. Today’s systems are engineered for modern building codes and climates, making them a reliable and forward-thinking choice for any new construction project.

ICF requires specific training and experience to install properly, especially when it comes to bracing, concrete pouring, and tie-in with other structural elements. We specialize in ICF installation and pouring, and our crew is fully trained in the latest techniques to ensure precision, safety, and long-lasting performance. Hiring an experienced ICF contractor is key to getting the full benefits of the system.

ICF construction is generally faster than traditional methods once the crew is properly trained. The forms go up quickly, and because the insulation and formwork are built-in, there’s less back-and-forth with different trades. Weather delays are also less of a concern because the forms can be installed in a wider range of conditions. On most projects, we can reduce foundation timelines by several days—sometimes even weeks.

You’ll see savings in several areas. First, energy costs—ICF provides exceptional insulation, so heating and cooling bills are often 30–50% lower than with traditional foundations. You’ll also save on maintenance and repairs thanks to its durability and resistance to mold, rot, and pests. Over time, those savings really add up, especially in colder climates or areas with extreme weather.

Yes, one of the biggest advantages of ICF is how well it protects against moisture. The continuous foam insulation and tight construction reduce thermal bridging and help keep condensation at bay. When paired with a proper drainage and waterproofing system, an ICF foundation can greatly reduce the risk of moisture problems, mold, and musty odors in your basement.
